Machli Tikka (grilled Spiced Fish)

Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of white fish (such as tilapia or cod)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Chaat masala for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin, coriander, red chili powder, turmeric, and salt to make the marinade.
  2. Place the fish fillets in the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Remove the fish from the marinade and brush with vegetable oil. Grill the fish for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
  5. Sprinkle with chaat masala, if desired, and serve hot with lemon wedges.
