Mahshi Fil Fil is a traditional Saudi Arabian dish of stuffed bell peppers, filled with a flavorful mixture of rice, meat, and aromatic spices. This dish is a popular choice for family gatherings and special occasions.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 250g ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, mix the cooked rice, ground meat, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the rice and meat mixture.
- In a separate bowl, mix the tomato paste with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Spoon the mixture over the stuffed peppers.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a pot, add a little water to the bottom, cover, and cook over medium heat for 30-40 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the Mahshi Fil Fil hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
