Ingredients
- 6 bell peppers, tops removed and seeds discarded
- 1 pound ground beef or lamb
- 1 cup uncooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground meat, rice, onion, tomatoes, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the meat and rice mixture.
- In a large pot, combine the tomato sauce and broth. Place the stuffed bell peppers in the pot.
- Cover and simmer over low heat for 1 hour, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the Mahshi Filfil hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
