Mahshi Silq (stuffed Swiss Chard Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch Swiss chard leaves
  • 1 cup rice
  • 250g ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  1. Wash the Swiss chard leaves and trim the tough stems.
  2. In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, tomatoes, tomato paste, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  3. Place a spoonful of the rice mixture onto each Swiss chard leaf and roll it up tightly.
  4. Arrange the stuffed chard rolls in a pot, seam side down.
  5. Pour the chicken broth and olive oil over the rolls.
  6. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 1 hour.
  7. Serve the Mahshi Silq hot and enjoy!
