Makanek (aleppo-style Spiced Lamb Sausages)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground lamb, chopped onion, minced garlic, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Form the mixture into small sausages, about 3 inches long.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the sausages in the skillet for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked.
  5. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve the Makanek hot with pita bread, hummus, and pickles.
