Ingredients

  • 2 lbs lamb, cut into chunks
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups chicken or lamb broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the lamb over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onions and garlic, and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, and cayenne pepper.
  4. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 hours.
