Makhani Murgh Nachos (butter Chicken Nachos)
Makhani Murgh Nachos, also known as Butter Chicken Nachos, is a fusion dish that combines the flavors of traditional East Indian butter chicken with the crunch of nachos. This recipe is perfect for a party or a fun twist on a weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream (or coconut milk for dairy-free option)
- 1 bag of tortilla chips
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne pepper, and salt. Add the chicken pieces and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Add the marinated chicken to the pan and cook until the chicken is no longer pink.
- Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream (or coconut milk) and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Arrange the tortilla chips on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the butter chicken mixture over the chips and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped cilantro.
- Serve the Makhani Murgh Nachos hot and enjoy!
