Makhmali Mushroom Masala (creamy Mushroom Masala)
Makhmali Mushroom Masala, also known as Creamy Mushroom Masala, is a rich and flavorful dish from Saraiki Cuisine. This creamy and indulgent mushroom masala is perfect for a special dinner or a festive occasion.
Ingredients
- 500g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a few minutes. Then, add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
- Stir in the turmeric powder, red chili powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, and salt. Cook for a couple of minutes.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and shrink in size.
- Whisk together the yogurt and heavy cream, then pour it into the mushroom mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
