Ingredients

  • 1 pound fish fillets, cut into chunks
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 hot pepper, chopped (optional for heat)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 cups fish or vegetable broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions, garlic, and bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the tomatoes, hot pepper (if using), and tomato paste. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in the fish or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the fish chunks and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the Makoume hot and enjoy!
