Makroud (tunisian Stuffed Dates)
Makroud is a traditional Tunisian dessert made with stuffed dates and a crispy semolina crust. This sweet treat is often enjoyed during special occasions and holidays.
Ingredients
- 20 Medjool dates, pitted
- 1 cup fine semolina
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon orange blossom water
- 1/4 cup honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a small knife, make a lengthwise slit in each date and remove the pit.
- In a bowl, mix the semolina, melted butter, cinnamon, cloves, and orange blossom water until well combined.
- Stuff each date with a small amount of the semolina mixture and press to seal.
- Place the stuffed dates on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Drizzle the honey over the baked dates and let them cool before serving.
