Malagasy Fried Rice (Riz sauté à la malgache)
Riz sauté à la malgache, or Malagasy Fried Rice, is a popular dish in Malagasy cuisine. This flavorful and aromatic fried rice is a perfect way to use up leftover rice and create a delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked rice
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the diced carrot and green peas, and stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Push the vegetables to one side of the pan, and pour the beaten eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked through.
- Add the cooked rice to the pan, and stir-fry with the vegetables and eggs.
- Pour the soy sauce over the rice, and continue to stir-fry until everything is well combined and heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and serve hot.
