Riz au lait à la vanille malgache, or Malagasy Vanilla Rice Pudding, is a traditional dessert from Madagascar. This creamy and aromatic rice pudding is flavored with the finest Malagasy vanilla, making it a delightful treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of short-grain rice
- 4 cups of whole milk
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 vanilla bean, split and seeds scraped
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the rice, milk, sugar, vanilla bean and seeds, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, for 30-35 minutes or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the rice pudding cool for 5 minutes.
- Discard the vanilla bean and transfer the rice pudding to serving dishes.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
