Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 cup of rice
  • 500g of ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of ground allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups of tomato sauce
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Core the cabbage and carefully remove the leaves. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, mix the rice, ground beef, onion, garlic, cinnamon, allspice, black pepper, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Place a spoonful of the rice and meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf, then fold the sides and roll it up.
  4. In a large pot, arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls, then pour the tomato sauce and chicken broth over them.
  5. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.
