Malvani Crab Sukka
Malvani Crab Sukka is a delicious and spicy crab dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 1 kg fresh crab, cleaned and cut into pieces
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 10-12 dried red chilies
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1 inch ginger
- 4-5 peppercorns
- 2-3 cloves
- 2-3 green cardamom pods
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tablespoons oil
Instructions
- Grind the grated coconut, dried red chilies, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, garlic, ginger, peppercorns, cloves, and green cardamom pods into a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
- Add the ground masala paste and cook until the oil separates.
- Add the crab pieces, green chilies, curry leaves, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the crab is cooked and the masala coats the pieces.
- Malvani Crab Sukka is ready to be served hot with steamed rice or Malvani bhakri.
