Malvani Mutton Handi
Malvani Mutton Handi is a traditional dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This dish is a perfect combination of tender mutton pieces cooked in a spicy and flavorful gravy.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, pureed
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 2 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a handi or deep pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add mutton pieces and cook until they change color.
- Add tomato puree, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add grated coconut and green chilies. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Pour water, cover the handi, and cook on low heat for 45-50 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
