Malvani Mutton Masala

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 2-3 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp Malvani masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Grind the grated coconut, onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies to a fine paste using a blender.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped tomato and sauté until it turns soft.
  3. Add the ground masala paste and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add the mutton pieces and coat them well with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the mutton cook on low heat until tender.
  7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Malvani bhakri.
