Malvani Mutton Masala
Malvani Mutton Masala is a traditional dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its rich and spicy flavors. This dish is a perfect combination of tender mutton pieces cooked in a flavorful and aromatic masala.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 4-5 garlic cloves
- 1-inch ginger
- 2-3 green chilies
- 1 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Grind the grated coconut, onions, garlic, ginger, and green chilies to a fine paste using a blender.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped tomato and sauté until it turns soft.
- Add the ground masala paste and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces and coat them well with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and let the mutton cook on low heat until tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Malvani bhakri.
