Malvani Prawn Handi
Malvani Prawn Handi is a delicious seafood dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold flavors and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a handi or deep pan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates.
- Add Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the cleaned prawns and grated coconut. Mix gently to coat the prawns with the masala.
- Pour water and stir. Cover the handi and cook for 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Malvani bhakri.
