Malvani Prawn Pulao
Malvani Prawn Pulao is a delicious and aromatic rice dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold flavors and use of coconut and spices.
Ingredients
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 250g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 2-3 tbsp oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until they turn golden brown.
- Add the grated ginger and minced garlic, and sauté for a few minutes.
- Now, add the chopped tomato and cook until it turns soft.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
- Add the cleaned prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the soaked and drained rice. Add salt to taste.
- Add 2 cups of water, cover the pan, and cook on low heat until the rice is done and the prawns are cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
