Malvani Prawn Thali
Malvani Prawn Thali is a traditional seafood dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold flavors and aromatic spices. This thali is a complete meal that includes prawns cooked in a spicy coconut gravy, accompanied by a variety of side dishes and condiments.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 2-3 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Water
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
- Add the grated coconut and sauté until it turns golden and aromatic.
- Now, add the ginger, garlic, and green chilies. Sauté for a few minutes.
- Add the tomato puree, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are done.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice and Malvani bhakri.
