Malvani Prawn Vade
Malvani Prawn Vade is a delicious and flavorful dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its use of aromatic spices and coconut. This recipe combines succulent prawns with a crispy vade, creating a perfect blend of textures and flavors.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 2 cups rice flour
- 1 cup grated coconut
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix rice flour, grated coconut, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
- Add a little water at a time to make a thick batter. Set aside.
- Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder and salt.
- Heat oil in a pan for frying.
- Take a small portion of the rice flour batter and flatten it on your palm. Place a marinated prawn in the center and fold the batter to encase the prawn completely.
- Gently drop the prawn vade into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the prawn vade from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
- Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
