Malvani Prawn Vade

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix rice flour, grated coconut, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt.
  2. Add a little water at a time to make a thick batter. Set aside.
  3. Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder and salt.
  4. Heat oil in a pan for frying.
  5. Take a small portion of the rice flour batter and flatten it on your palm. Place a marinated prawn in the center and fold the batter to encase the prawn completely.
  6. Gently drop the prawn vade into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the prawn vade from the oil and drain on a paper towel.
  8. Serve hot with chutney or sauce of your choice.
