Malvani Style Chicken Biryani
Malvani Style Chicken Biryani is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold and spicy flavors. This biryani is a perfect blend of tender chicken pieces, fragrant basmati rice, and a mix of traditional Malvani spices.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 500g chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 tbsp Malvani masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 4 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped mint leaves
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat oil and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink. Then, add the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, and Malvani masala. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in the yogurt, turmeric powder, coriander leaves, and mint leaves. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Layer the soaked rice over the chicken mixture in the pot. Pour water and add salt. Cover and cook on low heat until the rice is tender and the chicken is cooked through.
- Once done, gently fluff the biryani with a fork and serve hot.
