Malvani Style Chicken Sukka Pulao

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Malvani masala
  • 1/4 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 4-5 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a large pot or pressure cooker. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they turn golden brown.
  4. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook for 5-6 minutes.
  5. Add the soaked and drained rice to the pot. Mix well to coat the rice with the spices.
  6. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Cover and cook until the rice and chicken are fully cooked.
  7. Garnish with grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
