Malvani Style Crab Curry

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fresh crab, cleaned and washed
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, pureed
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup Malvani masala
  • 1/4 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 4-5 dry red chilies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Grind the grated coconut, garlic, ginger, and dry red chilies to a smooth paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  4. Add the ground coconut paste, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, and tamarind pulp. Cook for a few minutes.
  5. Add the cleaned crab, salt, and water. Cover and cook until the crab is done.
  6. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice.
