Malvani Style Crab Masala

Ingredients

  • 500g fresh crab, cleaned and washed
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 tbsp Malvani masala
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the grated coconut and sauté until it turns golden in color.
  3. Add the ginger, garlic, and green chilies, and sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Now, add the tomato puree, Malvani masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook the masala until the oil separates.
  5. Add the cleaned crab to the masala and mix well to coat the crab with the spices.
  6. Pour in the water, cover the pan, and let the crab cook for about 15-20 minutes on medium heat.
  7. Once the crab is cooked and the masala has thickened, garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  8. Serve the Malvani Style Crab Masala hot with steamed rice or Malvani bhakri.
