Malvani Style Fish Biryani
Malvani Style Fish Biryani is a flavorful and aromatic dish from the Malvani cuisine, known for its bold and spicy flavors. This biryani is made with marinated fish pieces, fragrant basmati rice, and a blend of Malvani spices, creating a mouthwatering and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 500g fish, cut into pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped mint leaves
- 1/4 cup Malvani masala
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
Instructions
- Marinate the fish pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- Wash and soak the basmati rice for 20 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, and Malvani masala. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the marinated fish pieces and cook for 5 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Mix gently to combine with the fish and spices.
- Pour in the water, add garam masala, coriander leaves, mint leaves, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Cover the pot with a lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until the rice and fish are fully cooked.
- Once done, fluff the biryani gently with a fork and serve hot.
