Malvani Style Fish Pulao

Ingredients

  • 500g fish, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add the fish pieces and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Sauté for 2 minutes.
  7. Pour in the coconut milk and 3 cups of water. Season with salt.
  8. Cover and cook on low heat until the rice is done and the fish is cooked through.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
