Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup lard
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Make a well in the center and add the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rest for 1 hour.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle.
- Spread a thin layer of lard over each circle of dough. Roll up the dough into a spiral and place it on a baking sheet. Let the ensaimadas rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the ensaimadas for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once baked, remove the ensaimadas from the oven and dust them with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy!
