Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup lard
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Make a well in the center and add the warm milk, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. Spread a thin layer of lard over each circle of dough. Roll up the dough into a spiral and place it on a baking sheet. Let the ensaimadas rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the ensaimadas for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Once baked, remove the ensaimadas from the oven and dust them with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy!
