Ingredients

  • 1 whole duck, about 5 lbs
  • 1 cup plum sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp five-spice powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean the duck and pat it dry. Score the skin and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the plum sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and five-spice powder.
  4. Brush the duck with the plum sauce mixture, inside and out.
  5. Roast the duck in the preheated oven for 1 hour, basting with the plum sauce mixture every 20 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the duck with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
