Mandi (omani Spiced Rice With Beef)
Mandi is a traditional Omani dish that features spiced rice and tender beef, creating a flavorful and aromatic meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 pound beef, cut into chunks
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons mandi spice mix
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat some oil and sauté the onions and garlic until golden.
- Add the beef chunks and cook until browned.
- Stir in the mandi spice mix and cook for a few minutes to release the flavors.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot, stirring to coat the rice with the spices.
- Pour in the water, add salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover the pot, and let the rice and beef simmer for 20-25 minutes until the rice is cooked and the beef is tender.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
