Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1.5 lbs beef, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp mandi spice mix
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 10 dates, pitted
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes, then drain.
  2. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil and sauté the onions and garlic until golden.
  3. Add the beef chunks and brown them on all sides.
  4. Stir in the mandi spice mix and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Add the soaked rice, dates, and water to the pot. Season with salt, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  6. Once the rice is cooked and the beef is tender, remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
