Mandi (spiced Lamb Kebabs)
Mandi is a traditional Yemeni dish consisting of spiced lamb kebabs that are incredibly flavorful and aromatic. This dish is perfect for a special occasion or a family gathering.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs lamb, cut into cubes
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 lemon, juiced
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the lamb cubes with the chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Thread the marinated lamb onto skewers.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the lamb kebabs for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
- In a small bowl, mix the plain yogurt with the lemon juice to make a dipping sauce.
- Serve the lamb kebabs hot, garnished with fresh parsley and accompanied by the yogurt dipping sauce.
