Manduguk Dumpling Soup (만두국)
만두국 (Manduguk) is a traditional Korean soup made with dumplings and a flavorful broth. It is a popular dish often enjoyed during the Lunar New Year and other special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 pack of store-bought dumpling wrappers
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame oil
- Soy sauce for dipping
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, and a drizzle of sesame oil. Mix well.
- Place a small amount of the pork mixture onto a dumpling wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, then fold and seal the dumpling.
- In a large pot, bring the broth to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook until they float to the surface, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the broth with salt, pepper, and additional soy sauce if needed.
- Serve the manduguk hot, garnished with extra chopped green onions. Enjoy with a side of soy sauce for dipping the dumplings.
