Mangalorean Style Chicken Curry is a traditional dish from the Mangalorean Catholic Cuisine, known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This recipe combines a blend of spices with tender chicken pieces, creating a delicious and comforting curry.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp Mangalorean curry masala
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger, garlic, green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Next, add the chicken pieces and cook until they are no longer pink.
- Stir in the Mangalorean curry masala, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the tomato puree and coconut milk. Mix well and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes until the chicken is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning and serve hot with steamed rice or neer dosa.
