Mansaf Pasta Bake (منسف بيتزا بايك)
Mansaf Pasta Bake is a delicious fusion dish that combines the flavors of traditional Jordanian mansaf with the comfort of a pasta bake. This hearty and flavorful dish is perfect for a special family dinner or a gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 500g penne pasta
- 1 kg lamb, cut into chunks
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup pine nuts
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cook the penne pasta according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the lamb chunks and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the lamb from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the chopped onion and garlic until softened.
- Return the lamb to the skillet with the onion and garlic. Add the turmeric, cumin, and cinnamon. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for a few minutes until the spices are fragrant.
- Spread the cooked penne pasta in a large baking dish. Pour the yogurt over the pasta, then arrange the lamb mixture on top.
- Sprinkle the pine nuts over the lamb and pasta.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
