Manti (kurdish Beef Dumplings)

Manti is a traditional Kurdish dish consisting of small beef dumplings served with a delicious yogurt and garlic sauce. This recipe is a labor of love, but the end result is well worth the effort!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 package of dumpling wrappers
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Place a small amount of the beef mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  4. While the dumplings are cooking, mix the yogurt and crushed garlic in a bowl.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the chopped parsley and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Once the dumplings are cooked, drain them and serve with the garlic yogurt sauce and parsley butter drizzled on top.
