Manti (kurdish Beef Dumplings)
Manti is a traditional Kurdish dish consisting of small beef dumplings served with a delicious yogurt and garlic sauce. This recipe is a labor of love, but the end result is well worth the effort!
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 package of dumpling wrappers
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Place a small amount of the beef mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- While the dumplings are cooking, mix the yogurt and crushed garlic in a bowl.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the chopped parsley and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Once the dumplings are cooked, drain them and serve with the garlic yogurt sauce and parsley butter drizzled on top.
