Manti is a traditional Kurdish dish consisting of small lamb dumplings served with a creamy yogurt sauce and a drizzle of spiced butter. It's a delicious and comforting meal that is perfect for special occasions or gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 package dumpling wrappers
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon dried mint
- 1/2 teaspoon sumac
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground lamb, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Place a small amount of the lamb mixture onto each dumpling wrapper, then fold and seal the edges to form dumplings.
- Boil the dumplings in a large pot of water until they float to the surface, then drain.
- Meanwhile, mix the yogurt with a pinch of salt and spread it on a serving platter.
- Place the cooked dumplings on top of the yogurt.
- In a small saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the dried mint and sumac. Drizzle this spiced butter over the dumplings.
