Manti (savory Meat Dumplings)
Manti are savory meat dumplings that are a staple in Bukharan Jewish cuisine. These delicious dumplings are typically filled with spiced ground meat and steamed to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package of dumpling wrappers
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup beef broth
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown.
- Pour the beef broth into the skillet and cover. Allow the manti to steam for about 20 minutes, or until the wrappers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the manti hot, with a side of yogurt or sour cream if desired.
