Mas Rihaakuru Pie (maldivian Fish Pie)

Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2 tbsp rihaakuru (Maldivian fish paste)
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 sheets of puff pastry

Instructions

  1. In a pan, sauté the onion, garlic, and green chili until fragrant.
  2. Add the tomato, rihaakuru, coconut milk, curry leaves, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add the fish fillets and cook for another 5 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  4. Preheat the oven to 200°C (390°F).
  5. Line a pie dish with one sheet of puff pastry.
  6. Pour the fish mixture into the pie dish.
  7. Cover the pie with the remaining sheet of puff pastry and seal the edges.
  8. Brush the top of the pie with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  10. Serve the Mas Rihaakuru Pie hot and enjoy!
