Mashed Vegetable Fritters (Bhorta Bora) are a popular dish in Sylheti cuisine, known for its flavorful and spicy taste. These fritters are made by mashing mixed vegetables, adding spices, and then frying them to perfection.
Ingredients
- 2 potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans), boiled and mashed
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup chickpea flour (besan)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix the mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables in a bowl.
- Add the chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the bowl. Mix well.
- Add chickpea flour gradually to the mixture to form a thick batter.
- Heat oil in a pan for frying.
- Take a spoonful of the vegetable mixture and gently drop it into the hot oil to form fritters. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the mashed vegetable fritters hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.
