Mashwi Bil Gamberi (qatari Spiced Grilled Prawns With Lemon Herb Butter)
Mashwi Bil Gamberi is a traditional Qatari dish of spiced grilled prawns with a zesty lemon herb butter. This dish is bursting with flavor and is perfect for a summer barbecue or a special dinner.
Ingredients
- 16 large prawns, deveined and shells removed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the olive oil, cumin, paprika, coriander, salt, and pepper. Add the prawns and toss to coat. Let marinate for 15 minutes.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- In another bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic, parsley, cilantro, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix well to make the lemon herb butter.
- Grill the prawns for 2-3 minutes per side, until they are pink and opaque.
- Remove the prawns from the grill and immediately top each with a spoonful of the lemon herb butter.
- Serve the Mashwi Bil Gamberi hot, with extra lemon wedges on the side.
