Matcha Fried Rice (Matcha Chǎofàn)
Matcha Chǎofàn, or Matcha Fried Rice, is a unique and flavorful dish that combines the earthy taste of matcha with the savory goodness of fried rice. This fusion of Japanese and Chinese cuisine creates a delightful and aromatic meal that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked white rice
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 1/2 cup diced tofu
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of water to form a paste.
- Heat the sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the mixed vegetables and diced tofu to the pan, and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Push the vegetables and tofu to one side of the pan, and add the matcha paste to the empty space. Stir-fry the matcha paste for 1 minute to release its aroma.
- Add the cooked white rice to the pan, and toss everything together to combine. Drizzle the soy sauce over the rice, and continue to stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes.
- Season the matcha fried rice with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in the chopped green onions, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the heat, and serve the matcha chǎofàn hot. Enjoy!
