Ingredients
- 1 package of Maultaschen
- 12 oz (340g) elbow macaroni
- 2 cups (200g) shredded Gruyère cheese
- 2 cups (200g) shredded Emmental cheese
- 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup (50g) breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons (30g) butter, melted
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the Maultaschen according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for 2 minutes to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and Dijon mustard until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in the shredded Gruyère and Emmental cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.
- Cut the cooked Maultaschen into bite-sized pieces and gently fold them into the mac and cheese mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top of the mac and cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
