Mauritanian Spiced Chicken Skewers
Mauritanian Spiced Chicken Skewers are a delicious and flavorful dish that combines traditional Mauritanian spices with tender chicken pieces. This recipe is perfect for a family dinner or a gathering with friends.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs chicken breast, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cinnamon, ground turmeric, cayenne pepper, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Add the chicken cubes to the spice mixture and toss to coat evenly. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Thread the marinated chicken onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Heat a grill pan or stovetop grill over medium-high heat. Cook the skewers for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken is fully cooked and has a nice char.
- Remove the skewers from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
