Mauritian Fish Ceviche
Mauritian Fish Ceviche is a refreshing and flavorful dish that originates from the beautiful island of Mauritius. This dish is perfect for a light and healthy meal, especially during the hot summer months.
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh white fish fillets, such as snapper or sea bass, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1-2 hot chili peppers, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 cucumber, peeled and diced
- 1 mango, peeled and diced
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine the fish and lime juice. Make sure the fish is completely submerged in the lime juice. Cover and refrigerate for about 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and "cooked" by the lime juice.
- Once the fish is "cooked," drain off the lime juice. Add the red onion, chili peppers, cilantro, cucumber, and mango to the fish. Gently toss to combine. Season with salt to taste.
- Refrigerate the ceviche for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Serve the Mauritian Fish Ceviche chilled, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
