Meat And Lentil Wrap (karachi Haleem Roll)
This Meat and Lentil Wrap, also known as Karachi Haleem Roll, is a popular street food in Pakistan. It's a delicious and filling dish that combines the flavors of meat, lentils, and spices, all wrapped in a warm flatbread.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mixed lentils
- 500g beef or mutton, cubed
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1/4 cup ghee or oil
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 4 flatbreads or parathas
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
- Sliced green chilies for garnish
Instructions
- Wash the lentils and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat the ghee or oil and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the meat and ginger-garlic paste, and cook until the meat changes color.
- Stir in the tomatoes, spices, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Add the soaked lentils and enough water to cover the mixture. Cook on low heat until the lentils and meat are tender, stirring occasionally.
- Once the mixture is thick and the lentils are completely cooked, sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Warm the flatbreads or parathas and place a generous amount of the meat and lentil mixture in the center.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and sliced green chilies, then roll up the flatbread to form a wrap.
