Meatball Curry (karachi Kofta Curry)
This Meatball Curry, also known as Karachi Kofta Curry, is a popular dish in Pakistani cuisine. The flavorful meatballs are simmered in a rich and aromatic curry sauce, making it a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion, green chilies, coriander, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Shape the mixture into small meatballs.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the meatballs until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the yogurt and tomato puree. Cook for a few minutes until the oil separates.
- Add the fried meatballs to the curry sauce and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala and dried fenugreek leaves over the curry before serving.
