Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, parsley, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the crushed tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, and sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet, spooning the tomato sauce over them. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Serve the meatballs in tomato sauce hot, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
