Meen Barthad (spicy Coorgi Fish Fry)

Ingredients

  • 500g fish fillets
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup Coorg vinegar
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish fillets with turmeric powder, red chili powder, ginger-garlic paste, and salt. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish fillets until they turn golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed. Sauté the chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves until the onions turn golden brown.
  4. Add Coorg vinegar to the pan and mix well. Cook for a few minutes until the flavors meld together.
  5. Add the fried fish fillets to the pan and toss them in the spicy Coorgi masala. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and serve hot.
