Meen Curry (kodava Style Fish Curry)

Ingredients

  • 500g fish, cut into pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp Kodava curry powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp tamarind paste
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
  2. Add the tomatoes, green chilies, and curry leaves. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  3. Add the Kodava curry powder, turmeric powder, and tamarind paste. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Pour in the coconut milk and bring the curry to a gentle simmer.
  5. Gently add the fish pieces and cook for about 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
  6. Season with salt and serve hot with steamed rice.
