Meen Fry, also known as Mangalorean Fish Fry, is a popular dish from the Dakshina Karnataka Cuisine. This delicious and flavorful fish fry is a must-try for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 500g fish (pomfret or kingfish), cleaned and cut into pieces
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp red chili powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tbsp rice flour
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste, rice flour, lemon juice, and salt to form a smooth paste.
- Apply the masala paste to the fish pieces, ensuring they are well coated. Marinate for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the marinated fish pieces in the pan.
- Fry the fish until golden brown and crispy on both sides, turning once or twice to ensure even cooking.
- Once done, remove the fish from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- Serve the Meen Fry hot with sliced onions, lemon wedges, and your favorite chutney.
